National Orchid Garden
A set of rare Orchids is kept in a separate area.
Bromelias are in a separate corner.
This beautiful flower I find everywhere in the garden.
Somewhat further a kind of palm.
After a couple of hours I have seen it all and return to the subway.
I go to the nearest sandwich shop and ask where I can find a major shopping area and how to get there. Taking the bus seems to be the fastest and luckily I can pay for it with coins. I walk around here for a couple of hours. Great to see it all, but one way or the other I had a different kind of representation of it before hand, more eastern maybe. This is just a large western looking shopping boulevard with a couple of large malls, where I soon lose track. Gucci, Prada and all the other major brands, they are all here.
At first I had the intention to visit Chinatown and a new futuristic park near the harbour where they are currently constructing very large trees (40 meters I believe) as well. But after carrying around my almost 17 kilo backpack for over 7 hours, I start to feel it and I have seen enough for this time. Somewhat earlier than anticipated, I return to the airport. Here I have to wait another 5 hours for the second leg. I think about taking a room to get some sleep, but let that idea go. I do take a nice shower here though.
The flight to Darwin will take only 4.5 hours but I am really happy that I changed my window seat for an aisle one early this afternoon. Now I have 3 seats for myself.
One of the stewardesses drops a plate with drinks right next to me on a seat. This time I am lucky to keep things dry. Because we are still ascending, a stream of juice goes under the seats towards the back of the plane. A couple of seats aft, there is a man who hasnët seen the spectacle. Funny, he is in for a surprise. A couple of seconds later, a surprised scream when the stream goes between his feet. This was funny.
After dinner I lay down to get some sleep.
