The landing is on time in Singapore, around 05:45. It is still dark outside, so I am not in a hurry. Customs is a lot smoother than expected, no checks, no tiresome questions, only some brute stamping on a couple of documents and my passport and I am allowed to enter.
It takes a while to find out the best way to explore the city and to get tickets, but around 07:00 I am on my way in the subway to the Singapore Botanic Gardens at the other end of the city. It is already quite warm outside and very moist as well.
In the park I see a lot of the same flowers I also saw in Costa Rica: Ginger and Heliconias are the first standing out.
I guess both countries are situated around the same latitude.
There are many runners in the park and also a couple of groups practising Tai Chi. Somewhat further some grannies are waiving ferociously with swords. A little later they are using those fans that they fold and unfold, clac, clac it does. Funny is that this is normal here. Smiling seems to be forbidden, this is all very serious.
